De Novo is styled after the family-oriented casual pubs of Europe with menus created by beloved Montclair restauranteur Demetri Malki (D'metri's, Table 8). Guests may enjoy an appealing and delicious menu with house-made breads, small plates, charcuterie, flatbreads, salads, burgers, house-made pastas, entrées and late-night bar bites. De Novo also offers a selection of tempting house-made desserts.

Demetri Malki | After earning his stripes in various New Jersey eateries, Demetri struck out on his own in the summer of 2001. Demetri opened his first restaurant, aptly named, D'METRI'S, to rave reviews and smashing success. In 2005, Demetri expanded his restaurant empire to include the cutting edge American cuisine based TABLE 8. Receiving rave reviews from the Star Ledger, New York Times, The Record and Savvy Living, TABLE 8 was at the heart of Montclair's restaurant scene for 6 years. Now, after an industry break to build his most important empire, his family, Demetri is back in the center of Upper Montclair with DE NOVO where his flair for hospitality and menu development have created a warm inviting environment for all to enjoy. The name of the restaurant, De Novo, means to start again, and the owner, Demetri Malki, is starting again after owning two other successful spots in Montclair. His newest restaurant is located at 275 Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair, and the easiest way to find it is to look for the train tracks. Whether it's on a commuter's way home, or a destination, De Novo is fast becoming a go to spot. The food features Italian, Greek, and Mediterranean flavors. The chef, Adolfo Marisi, has spent the last several years cooking in Florence, so it's no surprise the pasta is made fresh.
